Warrens
We have six Warren hens amongst our flock.
They are ex-battery hens from a commercial farm. We adopted them through the charity Fresh Start For Hens. We made arrangements to collect the girls from a farm in Holmfirth, near Huddersfield. They were both reasonably under-weight and "tatty" when we got them as they had spent their entire lives in a small cage to lay eggs daily. But some months have flown, they have settled in extremely well and they seem to be loving their new life! Andrea is the quiet one, Doria is the hyper-active one - she likes to jump into the house through the window some days if we're throwing a treat out to them.
Named after the SS Andrea Doria believe it or not by a good friend of ours.

SCAMPI:
Meet Scampi (and Myra the bantam in the bottom right hand corner!).
Scampi is from the newest 4 hens we adopted from Fresh Start 4 Hens, we named her Scampi because she was very tatty and skinny - bald bum, bald neck, etc. But after just two months of love and care (and plenty of baths!) she is now looking completely healthy and a totally different girl altogether! So rewarding to see :)
